Laser Hair Removal

Who are the best candidates for laser hair removal?

The laser seeks out the pigment or color in the hair. It works by destroying the follicle making it so it can no longer produce new hairs. This non-invasive procedure does so without the use of needles or prods. Instead the light simply penetrates through the skin and is directed towards the hair follicle.

In order for Louisville laser hair removal to be effective you will need several sessions. The number of sessions you will need can vary from three to eight depending upon the area treated and the amount of hair to be removed. Individual session times will vary depending upon the area that will be treated; sessions range from under 30 seconds to over an hour. For example, the underarms will take approximately three minutes per session while a male’s back may take over an hour!

When lasers were first developed back in the 1990′s the technology only worked well on people with lighter skin and darker hair. With recent developments we are now able to treat people of different hair colors and skin colors. When you come in for a consultation with one of our technicians they will take your physical attributes and match them to a laser that will work best for you.

Is laser hair removal permanent? What’s the difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal and electrolysis differ on many different levels in spite of the fact that they both can give you permanent hair loss. One big reason to choose Laser Hair Removal is the time factor; it will take only a few minutes, in most cases, to get rid of your hair by laser. Electrolysis, on the other hand, will take months on average to complete a similar treatment. The next big factor is pain. There is virtually no pain with Laser Hair Removal but a lot of pain with electrolysis. There are no bad side-effects with Laser Hair Removal, but electrolysis can leave you with burns or blisters after a session, not to mention the areas can also get infected if not properly treated after your electrolysis session.

How is LaserFast™ different from other lasers?

LaserFast™ hair removal utilizes the most advanced, safe, and reliable technology for hair removal. Candela lasers have been an industry gold standard in laser hair removal since laser hair removal was given FDA clearance in 1998. The GentleLASE® laser is an alexandrite laser with the biggest spot size in the industry allowing it to be able to effectively and quickly remove unwanted hair. Because of the larger spot size this laser allows the client to even get large areas done in half the time of other lasers. The Candela GentleLASE also offers clients a patented cooling device or cryogenic device that is computer coded to offer you more comfort than ever before.

What preparation is needed before laser treatment?

There are a few things you must know before you come in for your sessions. For one, do not wax or use tweezers on the area for six weeks before your first visit. Instead shave during the time period. This is because for the treatment to work the hair must be in the follicle at the time of the treatment. Also, on the day of your treatment shave the area that will be treated, this will help the laser identify the follicles easier.

What will I look like after the treatment?

During the treatment you may notice some of the hair falling out. This will continue to happen until the 21-day mark. Your appointments should be scheduled every four to six weeks depending on your individual characteristics and the area being treated. With the first treatment you will have at least a 20% reduction in hair.

Rarely, some people have reported a slight redness in the area that can be remedied the same day by applying an ice pack.

What should I avoid after treatment?

After the session you should avoid the sun for two weeks. During this time if you must be in the sun then use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. If you go out in the sun without sunscreen you are risking skin discoloration. You should also stay away from abrasive products, which can make your skin get inflamed.
