She then furthered her education at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated cum laude, with a Master’s of Science in Nurisng – Family Nurse Practitioner Track, in 2011. Her experience in leadership began while she was an undergraduate at IUP. At the onset of Julie’s college experience, she joined two different nursing sororities: Alpha Tau Delta, a service sorority for nursing majors and Sigma Theta Tau, an honors society for nurses. Julie was also a Peer Educator and taught group study sessions for Anatomy and Physiology and quickly realized she enjoyed being involved. This lead Julie to become the class President; she organized events, fundraisers, senior class pictures, other leadership responsibilities This was her first experience in a leadership position which laid the groundwork for her future career path.

Before coming on board with Premier, Julie was a Registered Nurse at Allegheny General Hospital for 4 years. AGH is a level one trauma center and one of Pittsburgh’s largest teaching hospitals. Her four years there were spent in the Coronary Care Unit. Julie cared for critically ill post cardiac arrest and myocardial infarction (heart attack) patients often requiring advanced life sustaining technology such as intra aortic balloon pumps, continuous dialysis, or ventilator assisted breathing. She was also asked to be a preceptor for new nurses learning charge-nurse duties and responsibilities. Together, these two advanced RN roles, gave her the opportunity to further expand her leadership and teaching skills. Julie then took a position as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a Family Practice in Northern Virginia. During her two years there, she worked directly with the CFO and Director of Operations to launch a Weight Loss Clinic within the Family Practice. The weight loss clinic was a success. Finally, her move to Baltimore is how she got the opportunity to begin with Premier Laser Spa.

Julie started at Premier in October 2013, as a Laser Technician at the Baltimore location. The following year, Julie moved on to become a Regional Trainer and was able to further expand her laser knowledge by working one-on-one with Judy Tchir. During her time as a Trainer, she continued to work in Baltimore while traveling to other clinics weekly. This past April, Julie was given the opportunity to become Premier’s Clinical Director where she is now teaching, traveling, and training full time!

Julie’s favorite thing about being a laser technician is the ability to get to know her clients and creating a rapport that allows them to be comfortable in a sometimes very uncomfortable situation. Laser technician, like Julie, are in a unique position to provide the client with not only an effective treatment, but to create an overall experience that leaves them feeling as though their needs were met and any questions or concerns were addressed and answered. Her favorite thing about being the Clinical Director is the chance to get to know you and to find out what you need in order to be the best laser technician she can be.
